A part of the Indigo Flamingo monthly events for the LGBTQ+ community in Malmö, in collaboration with Malmö Pride, this time a drag workshop led by Sofia Södergård, the DJ of our dance performance 'Indigo Flamingo'.
Explore queer spaces, masculine and feminine movements, expressions and social codes and devise methods to "hack the social codes" by mixing it all up together with Sofia Södergård aka Qarl Qunt.
Using drag queen and king techniques this workshop begins the creation of a character and explores our different selves and our relationship to people in the room. We will work with object/subject, clichés and stereotypes. No previous experience required.
'Indigo Flamingo' is a collaboration between Skånes Dansteater and Malmö Pride.

Good to know
No previous dance experience is required.
The workshops are held in Swedish and English, but we will help with translation.
Wear loose fitting clothes that you feel comfortable moving around in. There are places to change if you wish. We dance in socks or barefoot.
About Sofia Södergård
Sofia is a dancer, choregrapher, actor and DJ. Recently toured with their performance 'SLICK' featuring dragking Qarl Qunt through Riksteatern. The performance was nominated for the Swedish Theatre Critics' Dance Award and was selected for the Swedish Performing Arts' Biennale 2019. Sofia is one of the founders of the dance company P*fect which has been seen at Sadler's Wells in London, Melodifestivalen, Luste Debout in Paris and has been the opening act for Lady Gaga.
Sofia as among other things choreographed the musical 'Cabaret' at Den Nationale Scene, Denmark, 'Familjen Kaos Slå Pattarna i Taket' and 'Angels in America' at Dramaten, Sweden. She trained as a dancer in the club and street dance scene in New York, Ballettakademien Stockholm and at Stockholms Dramatiska Högskola. During autumn 2021 she was acting in the performance 'PRIDE' at Det Kongelige teater, Copenhagen, direction by Falk Richter. She has also been in several productions with Charlotte Engelkes, for example 'Transplantation'. Summer 2024 Sofia is the live-DJ of our dance production 'Indigo Flamingo'.
