Dance & LGBTQIA+ in Malmö

Indigo Flamingo the hit interactive show from choreographer Gwyn Emberton for Skånes Dansteater is back. First made in 2024 in collaboration with members of the LGBTQIA+ community of Malmö and Malmö Pride, it's going to be bigger and more fabulous than ever.

Host and DJ Qarl Qunt (Sofia Södergård) returns and invites you to step into the dreamlike clubland of Indigo Flamingo, filled with the highs and lows of memories and ideas that appear out of the dancefloor itself.

This is a celebration of community and of a city, and you are all invited to become part of the story in this two-hour interactive show, inspired by Malmö's queer people and places, past and present. You can take to the dancefloor or simply soak up the atmosphere of the fabulous indigo-tinted world of lost memories and hidden tales. 

Dress code: come as you please or dress to impress, but in all your fabulousness.

Indigo's International Song Contest

And this time, Indigo Flamingo will play host to a special kind of revival of 90’s favorite Indigo's International Song Contest, bringing it to a new generation in 2026 and offering a moment to reminisce for the older generation. Inspired by the original, it's your opportunity to lip sync to an audience and become even more part of the Indigo Flamingo show or you can just watch and vote for your favorite contestant. 

Enter the Contest

You can enter before the show by emailing indigoflamingo@skanesdansteater.se including the song you would like to lip sync to (the first 90 seconds only). If you enter before the show (up to 24 hours before and max five entries), you will get two free tickets and a free special edition Indigo Flamingo T-shirt. 

If there are spots left, you will be able to enter on the night and lip sync to a song from a pre-set playlist. 

All five entrants will perform for 90 seconds, and the audience will vote for their favorite. The winner receives a fun prize.

Lip Sync workshop with La Sosi and Club Mermaid

If you want to prepare and learn some lip-syncing skills beforehand Skånes Dansteater has teamed up with local drag sensation La Sosi and Club Mermaid to offer a lip-syncing workshop on Saturday June 6. Details below. You don’t have to enter the contest to attend the workshop.

Integrated Sign Language

Experience Indigo Flamingo with integrated Swedish Sign Language on Friday July 3 during Malmö Pride. 

A performance with integrated Sign Language conveys text and music in Sign Language. Here the interpreter works with multiple aspects of the performance in their interpretation of what is happening on stage.
