David Niemann
German conductor David Niemann was educated at the Folkwang University in Essen, the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki and the American Academy of Conducting in Aspen. In 2015 he won second prize in the Malko Conducting Competition and in the same year was appointed Assistant Conductor of the Opéra Orchestre National in Montpellier, where he stayed for three years. Since then he has conducted the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie, Qatar Philharmonic, Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse and Orchestre Lyrique Région Avignon Provence. He has also performed Beethoven's Ninth Symphony and Schoenberg's A Survivor from Warsaw with the Valles Symphony at the Palau de la Musica, Barcelona.
Recent highlights include performances with the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Luxembourg Philharmonic, Turku Philharmonic, Orchestre National de Lille and Folkwang Kammerorchester. On the opera side, he has conducted Ivan Eröd's Pünktchen und Anton at the Vienna State Opera and a production of The Fairy-Queen for children at the Salzburg Festival. In 2020, he conducted Falstaff at Malmö Opera.
